The lower floors are actually being used as a car park you pay money to park in. They couldn’t pay ME to park my car in there, I get scared just looking at it.  Another shot here: Click Me!

Competition question number four: What two streets is this building on the corner of?

Declan

The other day I opened an email a friend sent me which had a video clip attached to it. The video was of a boy (Declan Galbraith) who apparently wrote the song (Tell me Why) and it became a huge hit. I didn’t really believe he wrote the song but the words were beautiful and his singing was amazing.

The video was kinda old and I wondered if he’d ever gone on and done anything else, so I googled him and discovered all sorts of stuff about him. He did go on and release several albums and his songs are apparently used in China as part of the English language curriculum.   Declan didn’t write the song, it was actually written by Ian Mack, Stuart Mack & Barry Mason specially for him to perform, they are quite famous for writing loads of songs for people like Barbara Striesand, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Englebert Humperdink and even Elvis Presley.

After watching a couple more of his videos on YouTube I decided to look in iTunes to see if there was anything in there of his worth buying. Luckily there is and so far I’ve bought one music video and three songs.

If you have the time, also watch the video of  “An Angel”, I really love the lyrics:  Sometimes I wish I were an angel … Sometimes I wish I were you.

The Parade

While wandering around the shops at lunch time today we noticed crowds of people all standing around on Queen St. Then we noticed there was a parade happening, thinking this would be a great photo opportunity for my Blog I ran very quickly to see the parade.

As some of you would know I don’t run anywhere! So you will understand how stupid I felt when I finally got to see what was on parade. “Boobs on Bikes” I can’t believe I ran all that way to see THAT.

And no I did not take any photos… there was nothing worth taking a photo of.

Not going here again

This food court had a grand opening about a year ago.  I went there for lunch when it first opened because they were handing out discount vouchers.  It was busy, vibrant, the food was great but really expensive.  I thought at that time, this won’t last… you can’t charge that much money for a plate of food at a food hall.

Sadly it didn’t take too long  for my forecast to come true.  Two of the ladies I work with and I visited there on our way back to work the other day and many of the food outlets had gone, only a few remain, there wasn’t much choice.  Two of us ordered Indian food and took it back to work.  Within 2 hours I was not well, later that night the other person who ordered Indian food became ill too.  She was far more sick than I was, but she did eat more than I did, so that may have something to do with it, or it could be that I normally eat a lot more crap than she does.

The next day she was still sick and complained to the city council.  They gave her a number to call and shortly after, they called me.  The “officials” have made it so hard to complain about unsafe eating places that in the end I said forget it, I don’t want to take this any further, it was like the Spanish Inquisition, asking for a complete list of absolutely everything I ever ate dating back to last century; well not quite but it sure felt like it.  Why couldn’t they just send someone round to do a random health inspection?   BUT no they can’t do that unless it’s an official complaint and they have evidence.

Oh well, I won’t be going there again.

My Present has Arrived

Yahoo, the gift I ordered from “Fishpond” arrived today.  A fabulous friend of mine living in the UK posted me a Fishpond gift voucher for my birthday which enabled me to go into the Fishpond website and order whatever I liked.

When I finally got round to looking at the website on Wednesday I was thrilled to see they had a DVD/CD set of David Foster which I had never seen before or even knew existed.  So that was really fast service, just one week from the day I ordered it.  I’m going to have to play it NOW.
