Britomart

Had lunch today with a friend at the Britomart.  There is a Subway lunch place so we ate there.  For the first time ever I ordered something from their famous 6grams of fat or less menu.  I had the chicken sub, with no dressing, it was hard ordering such a thing, but actually it tasted really good and pretty much the same as if I’d added dressing.

After work I went to the movies to see “Boy”.  An awesome New Zealand film.  Very Kiwi, set in the 80s in a very small rural town.  It even featured the Goodnight Kiwi on the telly, which brought back so many great memories.  It was really really funny but also very sad.  Could easily watch this movie again.  Oh and I got to enjoy the film in the comfort of the Gold Class lounge, for only $5.00 more than what it usually costs to go to a movie and sit in a normal chair.  Ahhhhhh, such luxury.

My Present has Arrived

Yahoo, the gift I ordered from “Fishpond” arrived today.  A fabulous friend of mine living in the UK posted me a Fishpond gift voucher for my birthday which enabled me to go into the Fishpond website and order whatever I liked.

When I finally got round to looking at the website on Wednesday I was thrilled to see they had a DVD/CD set of David Foster which I had never seen before or even knew existed.  So that was really fast service, just one week from the day I ordered it.  I’m going to have to play it NOW.

This one started it all.

When I was about 16 I belonged to an amateur drama group “New Independent Theatre” and the club rooms were in town, so after school I would catch the bus there twice a week.  On my way home from the club my bus would drive past this building (the one in the pic).  The lights would be on and it would be dark, so it looked very “international” and back then, early 80s it was probably one of the tallest buildings in New Zealand.  I wanted to work in there.  I didn’t really care what sort of job I did, so long as it was in a big tall building like that.

I guess that was one of the reasons I took the job at the ANZ bank, coz the interview was in their head office on Queen St and it was a big tall building.  Funny thing is… I didn’t end up working there, I got placed in a small branch on Customs St.

So in a way, now that I’m working on the 7th floor of a big tall building in the city, it’s like a dream come true…  It only took 28 years.
