What’s become of my life? Here I am on K Road meeting up with a friend for a few drinks on a school night 🙂
And I walked all the way up here from work. The beer however is well worth the effort.
There is something wonderful about the bus service I use to get to work on each day. It’s the feeling of good old fashioned SERVICE.
It starts from way before you even get on the bus. If you see your bus coming, but you aren’t at your stop yet, you can still signal it and the driver will stop and let you on.
Then a wonderful thing happens, the driver smiles at you and says: “Good Morning” and clips your ticket. (The whole ticket thing and not a machine still amuses me.)
The driver will then wait for you to sit down before taking off.
All of this I’m sure is what then inspires all the passengers to actually say: “Thank you” to the driver as they get off the bus.

Back to work properly tomorrow, will be a full week including several days of teaching. Will I cope?
My second day back at work today and it was just too hot. It was too hot when I woke up, it was too hot on the bus and I was too hot to work… I felt sick!
At work we discovered why it seemed so hot… there was 98% humidity.
When I got home I checked the temperature in my lounge and it said 33 degrees. OMG I don’t cope once the temp goes over 28 degrees and usually it’s 29 degrees in the lounge when I get home!!!
A friend came round after work today (yes I’m back at work) and picked me up to go out for dinner. She has the coolest car, I’ve wanted to go for a ride in one of these cars for years.
It was so cool to see my friend again and it was so cool to get to go out for dinner in that car (it is sexy red AND the roof folds back) so we were driving round with the top down… Awesome!

Went for a big walk along Cheltenham beach and up North Head with a friend this morning.
The weather was perfect and gave me a real excuse to try out the cool application for taking panoramic shots with my iPhone. Â (Click the image for a better look. Â Once on the Flickr web page, click the All Sizes link at the top of the image.)
We also went for a walk around Fort Takapuna today. Did you even know there was such a place? It’s near Bayswater.

Yesterday I went up the Sky Tower with a friend to enjoy “High Tea in Orbit”. It’s a proper afternoon tea service in Orbit, Â Sky Tower’s revolving restaurant. It was a truly luxurious experience, with everything tasting absolutely divine, while enjoying the BEST views of Auckland without all the crowds.
Also… (back on the ground) I finally got a car stereo that plays more than one radio station. I had no idea till after it was installed and I was reading the instruction manual, that there are stations in Auckland that actually broadcast data to your radio enabling it to display the name of the station you’re listening to, PLUS the name of the song. How cool is that?
After all the hard work in the garden it’s nice to sit back, relax and enjoy all the lights.
By the way… while I was telling a friend yesterday about the fly, a stupid bug flew into my beer bottle, slid down the spout and landed upside-down in the beer and drowned. My friend said eeuwww tip it out, but I didn’t want to waste it. I decided to wait till I got off the phone and tip the beer into a glass and fish it out.
About an hour later as I was cleaning up I thought hmmm what happened to that beer. That’s when I realized I drank it. So one way or another the powers that be were determined to make me eat bugs. And as you can see… I survived.
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.
I don’t know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she’ll die. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Lyrics from: http://bussongs.com/
I know why she swallowed the fly… she was gardening!!!
After having brunch with a friend this morning in a cafe that is part of a garden centre, I made the most of the visit and bought some new plants for the garden, hoping to inspire me to get stuck in and tidy up my very neglected courtyard.
It worked. I got busy and did a major number on everything. However this very annoying fly wouldn’t leave me alone, so I spun round to whack it away and it flew into my mouth!!! There was much coughing and spluttering in a feeble attempt to get rid of it before I swallowed it. I ran inside and rinsed with gallons of water then had a big glass of coke (coz coke can dissolve coins if you leave them soaking in it long enough I’ve been told, so it’s bound to kill flies and any germs it carried with it).
After 5 minutes I could still feel it in my mouth, but knew I was imagining things, so I went back outside to carry on in the garden. Suddenly I felt a tickling in my mouth again so I ran back to the sink to have another big cough and a drink, that’s when the fly flew out of my mouth and landed in the sink looking very crushed but STILL ALIVE.
I picked it up and fed it to my Venus Fly Trap but even that didn’t want it, I wonder why, but eventually it closed its jaws on the still wriggling thing that had set up camp in MY MOUTH.
