It was a beautiful hot sunny day and the other classes were out doing outdoor activities so I thought we should be too. My class of computing students is made up of people in age ranging from 16 to over 50, there are males and females and a very wide range of cultures. So when we got to our destination and I turned to see if I had lost anybody on the way, I smiled to myself as I felt a bit like a tour guide, showing a bunch of tourists around Auckland.

Actually we just walked to the corner and back. It took 10 minutes. The pond in this photo is next door to where we work, but none of my students knew it was even there.

On my walk.  Here’s a shot of one of the views I get to see when I go for my walk. Yes I am still managing to go walking but it’s a bit hot for me. So I have to wait till it cools down, but by the time it’s cooled down enough for my liking it’s dark.

I would also like to say a big thank you to Charlotte for all the useful information she added to my blog yesterday about what to do with my tomatoes.

Tomatoes and the phone call.  I got home from work today and there was a message on my answering machine from a friend wondering how my tomatoes are doing. So I took a picture to upload to my blog so she can see.

I’m actually wondering when to pick them! So if any of you out there reading this know when is the best time to pick them, please let me know.

Cheers

Rainbow. I saw a rainbow on the way to work this morning. I was sitting at the lights getting a little bit excited about seeing all my students again (course started again today) when suddenly there appeared a rainbow and it ended very near where I work.

So does this mean at the end of my rainbow is not a pot of gold but a bunch of people??? Or perhaps my work is my “pot of gold”. It sure was a source of fun and laughter today.

Kumeu Car Show. Today I went out to the Kumeu Car Show with a couple of friends, where they have all these classic cars on display. The place was packed with die hard car enthusiasts; you can buy and sell just about anything there. They also had these stunt bike riders doing impressive jumps from one ramp to another. I had a great day and once again thanks to doing this blog I did something totally different and had yet another cool experience.

Of course I also have my friend G to thank for inviting me along and the people who drove us out there. Plus I also ran into four of my students, I’m guessing that I am the last person they expected to see at a “Petrolhead” convention.

A nice cold beer. Oh it’s been such a hard week. Two days back at work and at last it’s the weekend. So I think I deserve a beer. Then I’m going to take down my Christmas Tree and put everything away. I’m not looking forward to doing that, it’s much harder taking the tree down and putting stuff away than it is getting it all out. Once all the excitement of Christmas is over, putting the tree away and packing everything up neatly in boxes is no fun at all.
