In Memory (Q13)

In Memory

My thoughts are also with the millions of people all over the world who have been affected by the horrendous terrorist attacks on the fabulous city of New York.

I was lucky enough in 1988 to be in New York and got to watch the sun set while standing on the observation deck of the Twin Towers. It was an awesome moment in my life. One of those “I’ve made it” kinda feelings.

I also went on the famous Circle Line sightseeing cruise which took me down the Hudson River, under the Brooklyn Bridge – which I really wanted to see because of the ONJ movie “Two of a Kind” – and the Statue of Liberty. A surprising highlight however was the photo opportunity you can see in today’s photo. As we cruised past the Twin Towers we could see (for a brief moment) New York’s very first “Tallest in the World” building, lined up perfectly between the two towers of the World Trade Centre – the tallest skyscrapers in the world at that time. At that very moment I could capture on film the oldest and the tallest skyscrapers in New York.

Competition question number thirteen: What is the name of the building seen between the Twin Towers in my photo?
