Wow – I think I just enjoyed the best high tea ever.

It’s been a while since I’ve been for a high tea so a friend suggested we did it and found a recommendation for the high tea at the Park Hyatt hotel. I checked out the website and thought – oh yes that looks great.

It amused me greatly how there were boats rather than cars parked outside the hotel, I wonder what that parking costs.

The hotel was beautiful, the food was exquisite and the service was fantastic. Instead of bringing us a cake stand of all our treats they brought out one tier at a time. After the first course the waiter asked how was that and I said it was so yum I wish I’d ordered two helpings of everything, so he went away and somehow sneaked us another helping of the first course.

After the high tea was over we headed for the city so I could go for a ride on the brand new subway one stop to get a new “Hop” card – limited edition, based on the artwork in the station you purchase it from. The card I was most keen on was only one stop away from the city centre so didn’t take me long and luckily they still had the card I wanted for sale.

While walking around the station I overheard someone saying she felt like she needed her passport because it had a definite international feeling to it. I completely agree with her, it was something to be very proud of, and very international feeling – just like the subway in Sydney if you catch the train from the airport to the city.

After purchasing my card I thought I should test it out so I went back in to the station, then walked all the way to the other entrance and surfaced right by the Sky Tower. It was an awesome day and I felt like a real tourist in my own city.
